This program links Creighton University organizations with families residing in local homeless shelters.
Arrupe Neighborhood Partnership (Cleveland, OH)
The Arrupe Neighborhood Partnership (Arrupe), a unique service and community-based program, is central to Saint Ignatius High School's focus on developing "Men for Others." We offer students and their parents an opportunity to become involved, serve others, build friendships, strengthen their faith, and ultimately to make a difference in the lives of neighborhood children and families in need. Arrupe sponsors a variety of afterschool service programs and events throughout the school year and summer.
Dolores Mission Parish (Los Angeles, CA)
Dolores Mission became a parish in 1945, after twenty years as a mission for nearby
St. Mary's Parish. By then, public housing had become a fixture of the neighborhood.
In 1980, the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) came to the parish in response to a
request from Cardinal Timothy Manning, the archbishop of Los Angeles at the time.
Dolores Mission School K-8 (Los Angeles, CA)
Dolores Mission School is a parochial school educating grades Kindergarten through Eighth. We strive to serve the families of the greater parish community by offering their elementary school age children the academic and extracurricular programs necessary for them to achieve their God-given human potential. By providing a variety of activities, we hope to develop well-rounded children who are prepared academically, spiritually, physically and emotionally.
Education and Literacy Training Program (Richmond, VA)
This is an education and literacy training for low income families.
Fair Trade Club (Cincinnati, OH)
focuses on education and action to promote trade practices that support human dignity, economic justice and international solidarity. Here on campus the club works to encourage the use of fair trade coffee and other products.
Family Counseling (Richmond, VA)
Through this project, Sacred Heart provides parent programs, day-care, and adolescent support groups.
Homeboy Silkscreen (Los Angeles, CA)
Started in 1996, Homeboy Silkscreen & Embroidery is currently the largest division of Homeboy Industries, employing at-risk and formerly gang-involved youth, giving them job skills and a living wage to assist them to become positive, contributing members of society.
IMPACTO (Imaginado Manana Pico Aliso Community Team Outreach) (Los Angeles, CA)
IMPACTO (Imaginando Mañana Pico Aliso Community Team Outreach) is an after-school academic enrichment program serving at-risk youth ages 6-18 in the Boyle Heights community. In an area plagued with poverty, a suffering public education system, and the threat of gang violence, the youth served by the IMPACTO program are provided with more than merely an after school program; they are given hope, encouragement, alternatives and a safe haven. The goal of IMPACTO is to motivate and inspire youth of Boyle Heights to develop as leaders in pursuit of education. Additionally, recognizing the importance of parent support to ensure our students complete high school and go on to college, IMPACTO provides personalized assistance for parents so that they are better equipped to deal with the often daunting educational system.
Poder Center (Chicago, IL)
Since 1997, Poder has responded to the educational needs of immigrants in the primarily Latino areas of Pilsen/Little Village and Back of the Yards, on Chicago’s southwest side. In less than ten years, 4,500 students have attended our tuition free classes.
Project Search (Cincinatti, OH)
Project SEARCH is a program for students who have completed all requirements for graduation from high school. It is a transition program for students to go from high school to a competitive job. The program was developed in collaboration with Great Oaks Institute of Technology, Ohio Rehabilitation Services, and Xavier University. These three organizations together focus on education and employment for people with mild disabilities. Within Project SEARCH, students are at worksites for one school year and work as interns, without pay. These “interns” range from 18 to 22 years old.
Xavier University was the first University to host the Project SEARCH program and it is currently in its fifth year. Project SEARCH has now been replicated in close to one hundred sites throughout the country, as well as sites in England and Canada.
Proyecto Pastoral Early Childhood Education Centers (Sacramento, CA)
Formerly known as the Dolores Mission Women’s Cooperative, Proyecto Pastoral’s Early Childhood Education Centers began in April 1988 when a concerned group of mothers formed the neighborhood’s first child care cooperative. In response to the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, the first early learning site was formed as a means for amnesty-eligible women to seek employment and relinquish their public assistance. Today, our two centers—La Guarderia and Centro de Alegria—provide quality free to low cost early childhood education services to over 100 toddlers and pre-school age children. The children and families served by our centers are residents of the Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles community.
Service-Learning/ Tutuoring at the Marillac House (Wilmette, IL)
Students tutor underprivileged youth in neighboring communities.
St. Vincent de Paul (Cincinnati, OH)
Based on the Christian call to service, St. Vincent de Paul works in the community in various ways, including tutoring at a local school, collecting necessities for the poor and serving at soup kitchens. Members meet regularly to pray and reflect on their work.
TEES Tutoring (Sacramento, CA)
St. Ignatius Loyola Parishioners began tutoring at Thomas A. Edison Elementary School September 2008. The school is in our parish neighborhood and is located at 1500 Dom Way. Because of our church's reputation for community outreach, the principal of Thomas Edison Elementary, Todd Lindeman, a St. Ignatius Parishioner, and Lou Fifer, Point West Rotary Member, our partners in tutoring, contacted our parish to ask our help in tutoring students who are seriously struggling with basic math and reading principles. Tutors needed: During the school day, before and after school. Make a difference in the education of a young student who needs assistance in his/her formative years!

Underwings Praxis (Los Angeles, USA)
“Taking Kids Under Our Wings”
The name Underwings comes from the idea that we are “taking kids under our wings" by caring for them and guiding them as they grow up to become young adults.
Mission Statement
The Mission of Underwings Praxis is to promote justice-oriented education for students at Loyola Marymount University through a process of immersion and accompaniment with the members of the Dolores Mission Community.
Underwings Praxis acts as a bridge between LMU and Dolores Mission as it seeks to create an atmosphere of solidarity between the two communities.
Underwings Praxis consists of 30-45 LMU students who participate in a year-long process of direct service, accompaniment, reflection, and concrete social change.
Members are required to attend one of the four sites: Underwings@Impacto After School Program, Homeboy Industries, Guadalupe Homeless Project and Christian Base Communities.
