ABBY's House (Worcester, MA)
Abby's House is a shelter for homeless, battered, and low income women and their children in the Worcester community. We open the shelter in the evenings, interact with the guests, and return to campus the following morning. Abby's House provides a safe, supportive environment for women in the community and Holy Cross volunteers to learn from one another. Evenings spent at the shelter are a great time to offer an ear to the stories and struggles of these women's lives.
AIDS project (Worcester, MA)
Each year, College of the Holy Cross's Bishop Healy Multicultural Society hosts a week of events dedicated to educating the community on the effects of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and to building compassion for victims and their loved ones. This is the sixth consecutive year of AIDS Compassion and Awareness Week, the largest and most important event the Society sponsors. The week's events culminate in a charity banquet which serves as an educational event and fundraiser open to the Holy Cross and Worcester communities. All proceeds will be donated to AIDS Project Worcester and the Pendulum Project. The evening includes student performances, a slide show, speakers from AIDS Project Worcester and The Pendulum Project, and a raffle.
Domestic Violence Task Force (Washington, DC)
To tackle this social justice issue, the DV task force believes that a response from our faith-based communities is appropriate and necessary. Such a response involves developing a coalition of faith communities to work on ways to address DV.
Health Ministry (Kansas City, MO)
The parish provides health-related information and blood pressure screening.
Health Promotion Center (Bridgeport, CT)
The Health Promotion Center (HPC) is a free-standing community nursing center based in Bridgeport, Conn. facilitated by Fairfield University's School of Nursing. Through the HPC, students, faculty, and staff provide health education, screening, referral, and follow-up services to underserved populations by working with community organizations and agencies, as well as with individuals. Students gain professional experience while providing needed healthcare and education.
HOPE Lodge (Worcester, MA)
HOPE Lodge is a house in Worcester that provides housing for cancer patients and their families while the patient is receiving treatment at area hospitals. HOPE Lodge is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The volunteers visit HOPE Lodge one night a week, and spend time with those patients who are eager for company. The ages of the patients range from infants to elders. While at the site volunteers and patients play games, bake treats, watch movies, or simply sit and chat. The program is a wonderful experience for patients and volunteers. “We brought smiles to their faces each week, and even inspired them to start similar groups of their own after they left HOPE Lodge.
Jesuit Urban Service Team (JUST) (Camden, NJ)
The Jesuit Urban Service Team provides educational, medical, legal and social services to the working poor and underserved families living in Camden and South Jersey. These ministries include Holy Name School and the High School Scholars Program, St. Luke’s Catholic Medical Services, the Camden Center For Law and Social Justice and Guadalupe Family Services.
Operation Santa Claus (Philadelphia, PA)
Operation Santa Claus is a program that delivers toys to needy families. Last year, toys were delivered to 12,000 children. Teams of teens from the Delaware Valley
volunteer to dress up and deliver toys to children who may not receive gifts at Christmas.
Regional Aids Interfaith Network (RAIN) (Charlotte, NC)
RAIN engages the community to transform lives and promote respect and dignity for all people touched by the AIDS crisis through compassionate care, education and leadership development. As a RAIN member, St. Peter's encourages a theology of love and care for all persons affirming their inherent worth and dignity in the face of social structures and policies that too often overlook or deny their needs.
Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions Service Learning (Denver, CO)
The Center for Service Learning at RHCHP at Regis University serves as a resource for faculty and students by connecting academic course objectives with community based learning opportunities.

The Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development (GUCCHD) was established over four decades ago to improve the quality of life for all children and youth, especially those with, or at risk for, special needs and their families. Located in the nation's capital, this exceptional center both directly serves vulnerable children and their families, as well as influences local, state, national and international programs and policy.
