Abby's House is a shelter for homeless, battered, and low income women and their children in the Worcester community. We open the shelter in the evenings, interact with the guests, and return to campus the following morning. Abby's House provides a safe, supportive environment for women in the community and Holy Cross volunteers to learn from one another. Evenings spent at the shelter are a great time to offer an ear to the stories and struggles of these women's lives.

The shelter offers housing and childcare for unmarried women with small children.

Through participation in a variety of service projects, students are led to understand that talents are gifts to be developed, not for self-satisfaction or self gain, but rather, with the help of God, for the good of the human community. Students are encouraged to use their gifts in the service of others, out of a love for God.

Formerly known as the Dolores Mission Women’s Cooperative, Proyecto Pastoral’s Early Childhood Education Centers began in April 1988 when a concerned group of mothers formed the neighborhood’s first child care cooperative. In response to the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, the first early learning site was formed as a means for amnesty-eligible women to seek employment and relinquish their public assistance. Today, our two centers—La Guarderia and Centro de Alegria—provide quality free to low cost early childhood education services to over 100 toddlers and pre-school age children. The children and families served by our centers are residents of the Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles community.

The Domestic Violence Outreach Project is a part of Boston College's Gender Violence Awareness Coalition's larger mission to facilitate access for students to local domestic violence and rape centers, legal services providers, and shelters. An important component or complement to a legal education is serving the public through legal and non-legal volunteering, clinics, and legal services summer employment.

To tackle this social justice issue, the DV task force believes that a response from our faith-based communities is appropriate and necessary. Such a response involves developing a coalition of faith communities to work on ways to address DV.

Through this project, Sacred Heart provides parent programs, day-care, and adolescent support groups.

St. Joseph's supports the Jubilee Battered Women's Shelter through both direct service and donations in an effort to aid this vulnerable community of women and their children rebuild lives shattered by domestic violence.
